WEATHER, WATER, AND MOOD

Snow is falling as I scan the wintery field. Somewhere out there are the Snow Buntings that have been foraging here every day. I spot the swirling flock in the distance and start trudging through the snow toward them, glad to be carrying a lightweight camera and lens instead of tripod-mounted gear. Drawing closer, I hunker down, waiting for the flock to approach. Like an ocean wave, the buntings seem to roll over the terrain, as those at the rear of the flock repeatedly fly forward to land ahead of their flock mates at the front that are now running over the snow-covered ground, all of them driven by their relentless search for food.
