Technology Drives New Forms of Communication

If you look at the technology curve for computers, a significant increase in the speed of hardware led to an increased adoption of the personal computer. The computer was the disruptor changing the way people worked, and then, how they communicated. Face-to-face meetings, telephone calls, and letters were joined by electronic mail, and the world has not looked back. The smartphone added texting and social media. The ubiquity of tablets and laptops, the cloud, and high-definition quality video added videoconferencing. People can connect from anywhere in the world almost like we are in the same room.
