Panic
Company X was panicking. They called me to help reverse-engineer an application before it was too late. The only person who really understood the application was retiring soon and the company needed to record what only he knew.

Grateful users
After building an LDS, users often express gratitude to modelers. At company X, I observed users shaking modelers’ hands and saying how wonderful it was to be able to talk about their business and not have to feel overwhelmed by technology. They said that they had been in previous requirements sessions that made them feel stupid. With LDS they felt empowered.
