There is no set recipe for how to facilitate groups. Every facilitative experience is to be treated as sui generis. No two groups are ever alike, mainly because they are composed of different sets of individuals who have varying experiences, skills and values. Even if groups consist of the same people, their purpose in every facilitated activity often varies. Even the same group, on the same topic, can react differently at different meetings according to the demands, stresses, etc. that may be impacting on them at a given point in time. Every approach must then be adaptive to variances of all these factors. This begs the question, “Should the facilitator then make a plan?”
