Leaderboards have become an important component of nearly every mobile game, as well as having numerous applications outside of gaming. Leveraging Game Center to add leaderboards makes it easier than ever to include them in an iOS app. Although leaderboards have been around almost as long as video games themselves—the first high-score list appeared in 1976—they have more recently become critical parts of a social gaming experience.
