Chapter 16Data Migration—Early and Often
ETL is an acronym that's used all of the time in data migration, and I must say I heard it at least 100 times before I really understood what it meant. It's one of the most useful acronyms that you can learn because it tells you the important steps that you need to follow to be able to move data from one system to the next.
This chapter focuses on the process of moving data from your current system to your new Microsoft Dynamics 365 system—a process called data migration. We'll go through the E (extract), T (transform), and L (load) steps and validate the data so you know that you have accurate data in the new system.
Figure 16.1 outlines these three data migration steps.
