Understanding Server Roles and Configurations
Exchange Server 2013, similarly to Exchange Server 2010, provides a role-based installation procedure. This procedure provides only two server role choices: the Client Access server role and the Mailbox server role. As discussed in previous chapters, the former Hub Transport and Unified Messaging server role functionalities have been rolled into the other existing roles, providing a simplified installation process and deployment architecture.
