7.2. Benefits of Application Virtualization
App-V technology is based on an acquisition in July of 2006 of Softricity, Inc. Softricity was a pioneer of virtualization at the application level and had been developing the software since 2001. Since the acquisition, Microsoft has greatly matured the product in many areas such as globalization/localization, security, and scalability.
