Chapter 8. Creating Virtual Applications

To enable the isolation and on-demand streaming of applications in an App-V environment, the application must be repackaged in a process called sequencing. App-V includes an aptly named wizard-driven utility called App-V Sequencer. App-V Sequencer is essentially a piece of software that will actively watch an application install and detect the changes to the operating system. A virtual application package, or sequence, is different from a traditional installer, such as a setup.msi or setup.exe, in that the application will be delivered to end users in a preconfigured state ready to be used once the bits are delivered—a deafening lack of an install.
