4.2. Networking

Hyper-V does not change the rules of networking. In other words, once you have the virtual networks defined for your environment, you will be able to use most of the networking tools in your virtual environment you are currently using in your physical environment. I do know of one area that is different. Because Hyper-V implements virtual switches entirely in software, you cannot use an external network sniffer to listen in on VM-to-VM traffic if the VMs are on the same host. But providing the ability to virtualize the network for the virtual machines gives you a lot of flexibility, so much so that you can create some very complex and interesting networks.
