Taking an empirical approach to delivering complex products in an uncertain and rapidly changing world requires empirical planning. This means that in planning activities, aim to:

  • Enable transparency to progress

  • Set realistic expectations

  • Minimize waste while maximizing value

  • Harness change and new learnings for competitive advantage

  • Have open and honest discussions about the unpredictability and complexity inherent in product development
