12. Plan Quality Management

12.1 Introduction

As the project manager develops various components of the project management plan, one aspect of the project that he might not spend enough time defining is the management of project quality. At the beginning of a project, most of the initial staff are evaluating the project goals, objectives, and specific details outlining a deliverable. They typically focus on the feasibility and logistics required to accomplish a project objective as well as a potential schedule and overall project cost. Other areas such as resource allocation and potential risks may be brought up during the initial discussions, but rarely is the topic of quality a priority at the beginning of a project.
