Commonalities

While this chapter focuses solely on the differences between the two technologies, QlikView and Qlik Sense, there are plenty of commonalities as well. As a matter of fact, most things have thankfully remained the same between the two Qlik technologies. While there will be a couple of areas that will require either a different way of thinking to solve problems or learn new skills, the underlying engine of both technologies is de-facto the same. Both QlikView 12 and Qlik Sense are using the same novel QIX engine, Qlik's Associative Indexing Engine, which supports the same data modeling and scripting in the backend and utilizes the same variables, bookmarks, expressions, and set analysis on the frontend.
