Chapter 11: Connecting the SAS Data Warehouse to Other Systems
When SAS was originally designed, it was meant to run entirely in its own SAS environment. Data editing, analysis, reporting, and visualization all happened within the same SAS environment. But as the world has evolved, we now have the internet, and SAS has evolved to include interoperability features.
Now, SAS data can be served to other systems, and the SAS/ACCESS component can now be used to connect to non-SAS data storage, such as other data warehouses in SQL. Reporting and visualization of SAS data can now take place outside of SAS using software optimized for these functions. This chapter will cover these improvements in the interoperability of SAS.
