BACKGROUND TO THE EUROPEAN MASTER AGREEMENT (THE “EMA”)
The European Master Agreement (the “EMA”) was published on 29th October 1999. It was jointly sponsored by the Banking Federation of the European Union (the “FBE”) and the European Savings Banks Group and the European Association of Co-operative Banks. The EMA underwent minor revision in January 2001 and major revision of some of its parts in early 2004.
