8.4. Deploying the Operating System on "Bare Metal"
You have now successfully configured Configuration Manager 2007 for operating system deployment, prepared and captured a Vista client as a reference system, created a task sequence for deploying the newly created image, and finally, upgraded a Windows XP client to Vista. At the same time, you joined the client to the domain, saving the user's settings, and installing the Configuration Manager client on the new operating system for that machine.
However, you might be thinking, what if I have all these new machines without anything on the systems, just a blank bare-metal machine? How can I get Configuration Manager 2007 to install an image on those machines?
