Now that you have gotten the initial site planning out of the way, you can begin the task of actually designing what your Configuration Manager site hierarchy is going to look like. To do that, you need to figure out the number of sites you are going to need to manage your company's resources, the AD sites that are linked to those resources, and a standard convention for naming Configuration Manager sites and site codes that you are going to use.
