6.3. Elements of Software Distribution
Before you can plan to use software distribution, you will need to know about the different elements that are part of that feature and what role they play in the software distribution process.
Software distribution uses what is called packages to deploy software to clients, while programs are what are defined in packages that tell the client what exactly to run when it gets there. Advertisements are what are sent to clients to let them know which programs of a package to run, when to run them, and which computers are going to run them. To get that all to work, other elements, such as the Advertised Programs Client Agent, also need to be configured.
