Before you can plan to implement the Software Update process, you need to become familiar with the various elements of the process and their roles in the overall picture.
7.3.1. Software Update Point
As discussed in Chapter 4, the software update point (SUP) is a new site system role that is required for managing software updates in Configuration Manager. Each Configuration Manager site must have at least one active SUP before it can deploy software updates to Configuration Manager clients.
