In Chapter 4, we will cover the prerequisites and installation of System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2. The first step toward a successful migration/upgrade to Configuration Manager is to decide on your strategy. Some of the criteria to consider include:
Is the current SMS hardware adequate to sustain a Configuration Manager hierarchy?
Does the current data (i.e. inventories, packages, advertisements, histories, and so on) in the SMS database need to be retained?
Do your current systems (servers and clients) meet the requirements of Configuration Manager 2007?
