Installing and Configuring Agents

You can set up as many servers as you think you may need, but unless you have the Operations Manager agent loaded on systems in your environment, you won’t have an effective monitoring solution. Agent-based monitoring is more effective than agentless monitoring, which is a feature of Operations Manager for specific cases where placing an agent is not possible. The agent is the component that communicates with the management server to receive, carry out, and report back on the results of monitoring instructions received from the management server.
