In this chapter, we’ll introduce you to the PowerShell scripting environment and explain how it relates to management of Operations Manager 2012. PowerShell is the command-line interface and scripting environment for virtually all new Microsoft Server products. So if you are an administrator of such a product, you’ve probably already used the PowerShell console. If not, then you must fill this gap quickly.

PowerShell is powerful. Hugely powerful. Mastering it takes more room that we have available in this book, so we’re going to focus on the functionality of PowerShell as it pertains to Operations Manager 2012 and cover only enough basic PowerShell methodology to get you up and running.
