Chapter 7. Refining the browser interface
This chapter explains techniques that you can use to enhance the presentation and behavior
of a WebFacing application.
Prior to reading this chapter, we highly recommend that you read one or more of the following
publications for an introduction to customizing a WebFacing application:
򐂰 Understanding the IBM WebFacing Tool: A Guided Tour by Claus Weiss and Emily Bruner
򐂰 WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries V5.0, SG24-6961
򐂰 IBM WebFacing Tool Customization

Some functions described in this chapter are supported only on WebSphere Development
Studio Client for iSeries Advanced Edition. You must purchase this feature separately from
WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Standard Edition. Even if you received
WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries as part of product number 5722-WDS, free
of charge, because of the Software Subscription, you must pay a fee to acquire WebSphere
Development Studio Client for iSeries Advanced Edition.

Important: Most of the materials in this book were tested on the early WebSphere
Development Studio Client for iSeries 5.1.2 driver. Some of the components (menus and
the way the WebFacing code is generated) have changed for the General Availability
version of WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries 5.1.2. For a description of the
changes, see Appendix A, “Differences in WebSphere Development Studio Client for
iSeries V5.1 and V5.1.2” on page 461.
