Chapter 10. Creating Cinematic Sequences

Cinematic sequences (often called cut scenes or machinima) are essentially short virtual films shown as intermissions between levels or missions, as prologues to the next level, or as epilogues to the level just completed. Most often, these are completely noninteractive because the player has limited to no control over the action that happens or the manner in which he or she experiences the cinematic. Cinematic sequences provide designers and art directors with the power to present their story precisely in the manner they wish the player to receive it.
