This chapter shows you how to use VBA to manipulate data in an Access database. You can also manage Access databases from within another VBA-enabled application—for example, from Excel or from Word. However, here we'll focus on Access VBA.

There are two main ways to manage data in an Access database: via Data Access Objects (DAO) or via ActiveX Data Objects (ADO). DAO, now deprecated (no longer approved of), is the older technology, and it works for both Microsoft Jet databases (also now deprecated) and ODBC-compliant data sources.
