7.4. Migrating a Virtual Machine
Creation of a virtual machine involves selecting a virtual machine host or library and placing the configuration file and the virtual disks in a storage location associated with the host. This action is obviously performed only once for the life of the virtual machine. Migration of the virtual machine, on the other hand, is an action that may occur more than once throughout the existence of the virtual machine. For the purpose of this discussion, the existence of a virtual machine is defined by the GUID VMM assigns to a virtual machine record in the database when it is created or imported. The assigned GUID remains with the virtual machine until it is deleted.
