B.4. Using the vicfg-* Commands
The lack of a Service Console in ESXi has driven the development of a set of remote command-line utilities. In VMware vSphere, the vSphere Management Assistant provides a set of commands similar to the esxcfg-* commands but designed to work remotely with ESXi hosts. These commands are the vicfg-* commands.
vifp
Used to manipulate servers in FastPass. FastPass streamlines the authentication process when using vMA and remote commands. Some frequently used parameters include the following:
addserver followed by <host> to add a server to FastPass
listservers to list the servers current in FastPass
removeserver followed by <host> to remove a server from FastPass
Example: # vifp addserver esx01.vmwarelab.net
vifpinit ...
