8.3. Using vCenter Converter to Perform P2V Migrations
Guided Consolidation provides the information you need as an end user to know how many of your physical systems you can convert and which systems are good candidates for conversion. But how do you actually perform the conversion? That's where vCenter Converter comes into play.
vCenter Converter, which you installed earlier in this chapter, is the tool you'll use to actually perform migrations. This tool can perform both P2V migrations as well as virtual-to-virtual migrations. VMware used to have two separate tools for P2V and V2V operations: P2V Assistant and VMware Importer. vCenter Converter combines the functionality of both tools into a single tool.
