Over the last couple of releases, Microsoft has invested heavily in expanding the storage functionality built into Windows Server. It has always had core-storage technologies to enable it to connect to storage area networks (SANs) or to serve as a file server. But today, with Windows Server 2016, Windows Server has enterprise-class foundational storage technologies, enabling many companies to bypass or complement traditional, dedicated storage solutions. We will focus on some of the newer storage technologies.
