7.2. Creating a New Subsite
Before creating a new subsite, you need to keep the overall structure of your site collection in mind. At first, creating a new subsite below your main site is straightforward—but as your SharePoint deployment grows, you'll need to keep track of where a subsite is located relative to other sites. In a similar fashion to designing the organizational units (OUs) in Active Directory, it pays to plan ahead before creating a new subsite. Consider the purpose of the new site, user access desired, and how long you intend the site to exist. Subsites can be created with the intention of being temporary, such as a workspace for a project, or permanent, such as team site for a particular department or organization.
