11.2. Individual Permissions
Permissions are rights to do something; to view, create, delete, or edit something. Permissions are allowed or disallowed at the web application level using the User permissions for Web applications setting on the Application Management page, in Central Administration. SharePoint breaks these permissions down into categories for assignment to users and groups. 33 separate permissions are divided across three categories (Site, List, and Personal).
