Chapter 8
Being on Set
One of my favorite parts of my job as a matchmoving supervisor is being on set during a live-action shoot. Of course, a matchmover isn’t always on set during the shoot, but when the opportunity presents itself, it’s good to be prepared.
In this chapter, I will discuss the roles of a matchmover while on set. The techniques I will describe here are framed within the context of film work but could easily be applied to smaller-scale productions. I’ll show you how to gather the information you need and give you a few pointers for on-set etiquette.
