Before going to Laboratory
For using equipment in a laboratory, students should know about a number of points. Some of them are as the following.
1. Units
In an experiment, we measure one or more physical quantities. For expression of a physical quantity, a unit in which the quantity is measured and the number of times this unit is contained in it, is essentially required. For example, we measure that the length of one side of a room is 5 meter. It means that the unit for measuring the length is “meter” and the length is 5 times the size of meter.
There are three fundamental units, namely, those of length, mass and time. These fundamental units are measured, generally, in one of the following systems of measurement:
