10.12. Creating Masked Sub-Systems

A mask is an interface for a sub-system which hides its contents and has its own icon and dialog box defined by the user. The Simulink Mask Editor can be used to create the mask of a sub-system. The advantages of masking a sub-system are listed as follows:

  1. It replaces the parameter dialogs of a sub-system and its contents with a single parameter dialog.

  2. Prevents unintended modification of sub-systems.

  3. Simplifies the use of model by replacing many dialog boxes in a sub-system with a single one.

  4. It allows specifying a unique icon and a dialog box for the subsystem block.
