Our aircraft model will be a three-dimensional point mass model. This models the translational dynamics in three dimensions. Translation is motion in the x, y, and z directions. An aircraft controls its motion by changing its orientation with respect to the wind (banking and angle of attack) and by changing the thrust its engine produces.
