Preparing the Project Definition

Every time we face a new project, as the project manager responsible for its success, we must ensure that we have a complete understanding of the problem or issue to be resolved in order to provide effective project management. We begin this effort by specifying the type of project or classification that will be used, to provide a very broad understanding of the project. We must then continue to perform a more detailed examination of project requirements and conditions to provide an in-depth understanding of the project. This effort produces a collection of information frequently referred to as the project definition.
