TEXTURING TRANSFORMS THE dull-gray denizens of the modeling world into lifelike objects. Although texturing is nothing without good lighting, good lighting is nothing without good texturing. In fact, good texturing can disguise limitations within the model itself. This is most true with displacement mapping. In any case, Maya does not limit itself to the texturing of NURBS surfaces and polygons. You can texture Particles and Paint Effects brushes with a wide range of techniques.
