Project: Setting Up the Skylights
The main light source for the room will be the large, square skylights. To create the sense that sunlight is entering the skylights and bouncing through the room, you can use mental ray's Physical Sun and Sky system, portal lights, Final Gathering, and Global Illumination.
Before activating the Physical Sun and Sky system, adjust the Color, Reflectivity, and Transparency of the mia_material shaders. You can find Reflectivity in the Reflection section, and Transparency in the Refraction section. Assign the Skylights surface a Transparency value of 1.0. Change the color of the walls to red, the chairs to black, and the pillars, ceiling beams, and molding to off-white.
