The following sections describe the certification requirements for the various types of Microsoft certification.
NOTE
Discontinued Exams An asterisk following an exam in any of the following lists means that it is slated for retirement.
How to Become an MCP
Passing any Microsoft exam (with the exception of exam 70-058, “Networking Essentials”) is all you need to do to become certified as an MCP.
How to Become an MCSA
You must pass three core exams and one elective exam to become an MCSA. The following sections show both the core requirements and the electives you can take to earn this certification.
MCSA Core Exams
You must pass three core exams from the following list to earn credit toward the MCSA certification:
