Client Access Servers (CAS) are the interface through which users interact with Exchange. When you deploy Exchange 2010 you need to ensure that there is a CAS in each site that hosts a mailbox server. In Exchange 2010 deployments, CAS provide support for RPC, Outlook Web App, Autodiscover, ActiveSync, Outlook Anywhere, POP3, IMAP4, and the Availability service.
