Windows Deployment Services (WDS)

A Windows Server 2008 role that is used to deploy images to computers. WDS can be used to deploy boot, basic, and custom images including the operating system, settings, and applications. It can also be used to capture images from computers. By creating a target computer configured exactly as you need it, you can then capture the image and deploy it to multiple computers simultaneously.

Windows Internet Name Service (WINS)

A Windows Server 2008 feature that provides name resolution for NetBIOS names. The use of and need for WINS servers is significantly decreasing in networks. GlobalNames Zones in DNS may be used to reduce the need for WINS servers in some networks.
