Glossary
Access Token A descriptor, calculated each time a user logs on to the system, which contains an object’s SID, GUID, and group membership information. An access token is attached to each process launched in the security context of the corresponding user account.
ACE Short for access control entry. An entry on an ACL list that specifies a security principal and the level of permissions that principal is allowed or denied.
ACL Short for access control list. A list of ACEs for a given resource. Allows defining permissions used in controlling access to directory objects and file system resources.
Account An object in Active Directory that represents a user or a computer.
