- read-only domain controller (RODC)
A domain controller containing a read-only full copy of an Active Directory database. The Active Directory database on a RODC cannot be altered. A RODC is used in an area or location that has limited security and is new in Windows Server 2008.
- realm trust
A way to connect to a non-Windows domain that uses Kerberos authentication. Realm trusts can be transitive or nontransitive, one-way or two-way.
- relative distinguished name (RDN)
Also referred to as the common name. This name specifies only part of the object's path relative to another object. For example, if a username is wpanek@stellacon.com, wpanek is the RDN.
