Using the Properties() function to retrieve data from attribute relationships
Attribute relationships define hierarchical dependencies between attributes. A good example is the relationship between the
City attribute and the
State attribute. If we know the current city is Phoenix, we know the state must be Arizona. This knowledge of the relationship, City/State, can be used by the Analysis Services engine to optimize performance.
Analysis Services provides the
Properties() function to allow us to retrieve data based on attribute relationships.
We will start with a classic top 10 query that shows the top 10 customers. Then we will use the
