How to set and smash audacious goals
It’s time to move from the passenger seat to the driver’s seat in your life — after all, this is what Me First is all about. Goal setting is an unbelievably powerful way to do this, and it will also help you:
- gain clarity over the long-term vision for your life
- gain a powerful injection of short-term motivation
- prioritise tasks
- stay single-focused, determined and single-minded
- reject what is wasting your time
- delegate what someone else can do faster, better and cheaper than you
- say ‘no’ to distractions.
It is really worth taking the time to do this right because the research is clear: the act of considering, writing down and then sharing your goals means you are more likely to achieve your goals.

Your goals need to closely align to your values. You already know that having absolute clarity over the values that drive you is central to deciding where you should — and should not — invest your time. This is great news because you have already done a lot of work on your values and you know exactly what they are!
