About the Author

Wilson C. Chin earned his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.Sc. from the California Institute of Technology.

He is the author of twenty books on drilling and cementing rheology, reservoir engineering, vibrations and wave propagation, well logging and formation evaluation, and MWD design. In addition, he has authored one hundred papers in the same subject areas and won fifty patents in modern well logging technology.

Prior to forming Stratamagnetic Software, LLC in 1999, Mr. Chin had been affiliated with Boeing, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Schlumberger, British Petroleum and Halliburton. Since then, he has been awarded four prestigious Small Business Innovation Research grants from the United States Department of Energy, and recently, a major DOE contract for model and software development for managed pressure drilling flow simulation and job planning.
