Growth origins and patterns in the market economy of mainland Norway, 1997–2014
Abstract
Using the Norwegian KLEMS database, this chapter investigates the origins of the aggregate average (value-added based) labor productivity (ALP) growth during the period 1997–2014, as well as of the growth changes over the two subperiods (1997–2006 and 2006–14), in the market economy of mainland Norway. It not only looks at which sectors contributed most to the aggregate ALP growth and its changes, but also which sectors contributed most to the use of the knowledge-based inputs, such as Hardware, Software, R&D capital, and skilled labor with high education.
