Control Components

Stage machines are at the end of a system of devices that starts with the operator who runs the effect. Control panels, position controllers, motor drives and pneumatic or hydraulic valves are some of the components which may be found between the operator and the machine. Few of these parts have a direct bearing on the design of the machine itself. This chapter will discuss the control components which directly interface with stage machines: sensors, limit and disconnect boxes, and connectors. Discussion of control consoles and networks, motor drives and fluid power control valves is beyond the scope of this work. An important decision for the technical designer of a mechanical effect to make is which components will mount ...
