Content preview from Media Design and Technology for Live Entertainment

The first thing to consider in any design is what the audience will ultimately see. The source material to be presented is known as content. Later on we will refer to the source as the technology which contains the content and method of playback. Content can either be created during the production process, so it is simply played back during a show, or it can be specific variables within a program which allow it to be created live. Not every designer will have the ability to create the content necessary for a production, just as not every sound designer is a composer or creates their own effects. Most media designers will turn to others for at least some portion of their content.
