Operational Performance Improvement

In many systems the access speed to data is the limiting factor for the performance of the entire system. While a disk drive with a given electro-mechanical design comes with certain raw performance characteristics that cannot be changed, such as its revolution time and seek profile, operation of the drive by its controller can bring about some differences in user-observable performance.
